Who can participate
Any enrolled college student can play. Every team is four students from the same institution. Cross-school teams are not supported.
The D1 Captain requirement
Every team is built around and led by a Division I college athlete who serves as Captain. The other three positions are filled by athletes or non-athlete students, who join the team through pre-registration or by being drafted from the talent pool.
Player Profiles
Every participant creates a persistent Ballathon Player Profile — including players arriving with a complete team. Your profile carries your university, sport, major, year, position, skills, history and results.
Know Your Game assessment
Before the event you complete a behavioral/team assessment. The objective is development and self-awareness: how I naturally operate, where I'm strongest, where I get in my own way, what I need from teammates.
Bring Your Team
Captains invite specific students from their university to pre-register and fill Product Manager, Growth Manager and Operations Manager.
Draft Your Team
Captains browse the Draft Pool at their own institution and send Draft invitations. Players accept or decline. When all four positions are filled: Roster Complete.
Leadership development
You won't sit through workshops. You develop and demonstrate leadership, followership, communication, prioritization, resourcefulness and coachability while trying to win.
Postgame feedback
Every participant eventually receives a Postgame Report: here's how you showed up, here's where you helped your team, here's where you can improve.
