Leadership Development

They develop leadership while trying to win.

Participants are not sitting through traditional leadership workshops. Ballathon puts athletes in positions of real accountability against a live clock — then tells them how they showed up.

What Ballathon develops

Measurable competencies

Self-awarenessLeadershipFollowershipCommunicationTeam constructionFunctional ownershipPrioritizationResourcefulnessCoachabilityAdaptabilityExecution under pressure

Know Your Game

Before Ballathon, every player completes a behavioral/team assessment. The objective is development and self-awareness, not prescribing positions. Players leave with: how I naturally operate, where I'm strongest, where I can get in my own way, what I need from teammates.

  • Assertiveness
  • Communication
  • Decision-making
  • Collaboration
  • Pace
  • Detail orientation
  • Risk tolerance
  • Response to ambiguity

Play Your Position

Functional ownership is real. Each player owns an area of the case and is accountable for it in front of judges.

Lead the Team

Captain philosophy: create clarity, establish priorities, get the ball to the right player, ask before telling, decide when required, see the whole field.

Cover Each Other

Team dynamics under time pressure. Read what's happening, communicate, adjust, and pick up your teammate's work when the game demands it.

Get Coached

Coaches ask questions, challenge assumptions and provide perspective. They do not solve the Challenge. Teams decide when and how to use coaching as a resource.

Postgame

Feedback and development. Postgame Reports draw on assessment, self-assessment, peer feedback, coach feedback, position performance and results.

The central team lesson

You have a position. Own it. But read what's happening, communicate, adjust and cover your teammates.
